Numerous groups of friends and patrons support the activities of the Pinakothek museums. For example, the Pinakotheks-Verein, originally founded in 1953 to support the rebuilding of the Alte Pinakothek, today includes patronage of the Alte and Neue Pinakothek. The Pinakothek der Moderne is also generously supported by several patrons, such as the Stiftung Pinakothek der Moderne, which was established in 1994 to collect private donations for the construction of the Pinakothek der Moderne, and PIN. Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne, which was established in 1965 under the name “Galerie-Verein”.
The various groups of friends offer a full programme which provides an insightful look at the work that goes on at the Pinakothek museums. Previews of exhibitions, guided tours and lectures by museum staff, as well as special journeys and festivities offer a different view of the art world and opportunities for fascinating encounters.
