  • Die Neuen Sammlung – The Design Museum

The dawn of modernism and the beginnings of the first state design museum in Germany are closely linked. Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum in Munich was created in the context of modern reform movements and has been firmly committed to modernism and contemporary design from the very beginning.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum, the four museums of the Pinakothek der Moderne are presenting a selection of special highlights that heralded and depict modernism.
The era of modernism is presented from its beginnings before the First World War to its end with the beginning of the Second World War, from its early developments through its heyday to its natural integration into everyday life.
Among the highlights of the exhibition are objects that made important contributions to the transformation to modernity or illustrate the process of change.
lt is the first comprehensive joint exhibition of all four
museums in the Pinakothek der Moderne dedicated to the theme of modernism.
