Painter and wood carver active in Tirol and the area around Salzburg; born c.1435, probably in Bruneck in the Puster valley, South Tirol (Alto Adige). From 1467 he is documented as a citizen of Bruneck and owner of a workshop there. Evidently trained in South Tirol, he was influenced by the Master of the Sterzing Altar Wings and by the painting of Upper Italy. He received major commissions for altarpieces in Tirol and the Salzburg area. From 1495 he lived in Salzburg, where he probably died in 1498.
