Albert Renger-Patzsch (1897-1966), key photographer and pioneer of Neue Sachlichkeit (New Sobriety), also displayed a keen interest throughout his life for the classics and modern literature. A lively personal correspondence developed between himself and the German author Ernst Jünger, who also penned two essays on the photographer´s work, published in the photobooks "Bäume" ("Trees", 1962) and "Gestein" ("Rock", 1966).
