| The girl portrayed has been identified as the 15-year-old Louise O'Murphy, who sat for the painter as model starting 1751. Shortly after King Louis XV saw a miniature of her, he made her his mistress. After the birth of a child, she married Jacques de Beaufranchet in 1755. - Boucher's mixture of childlike naivety and the openly erotic pose embodies the feeling of a rather permissive age. |
